CBS, Last.fm Deny Passing User Data To RIAA
- Richard Jones, one of Last.fm’s co-founders, on TechCrunch’s anonymous, rumor-based story that his company handed over personally identifying listening statistics for U2’s unreleased album to the RIAA.
Hulu - The Colbert Report: Better Know a District - New Yorks 25th - Dan Maffei
Easily one of Colbert’s best “Better Know a District” skits. Ever.

URLs are the building block of the Web. They tell the user where they are. They give you something to bookmark to go back or to share with others. The DiggBar breaks that, and I’ve seen no argument that makes it any more sense to support this than it does to support 1996-style
Holy-crap-it’s-Phish-performing-“Julius”-my-favorite-Phish-song-live-on-Letterman. I never knew this happened.
Note that I am a bad Phish fan. I’m nuts for their finely crafted studio albums, not as hip on the culture of the live shows. But this was just great to see.
Trey Anastasio kicks ass.
I just picked up 311’s new “Uplifter” album. I love their music and how positive they always are. I wish I could travel more like them. Guess that’s part of the motivational message of their music.
I’m embedding Lala’s widget cuz Lala’s cool like that and you can check out the entire album right here. But I must admit that I purchased the Deluxe Edition from iTunes Store (remember: everything’s DRM-free iTunes Plus now) because it’s only $4 more and it comes with 16 little videos, interviews, and other snippets from a recent tour. I love getting to know a band through stuff like this.

Futuristic Movie Timeline
#6 In A Series Of Pop-Cultural Charts(click here for a larger version)
No one really pays much attention to what year sci-fi movies take place. I thought it would be interesting to arrange some classic films about the future into chronological order and see what we’d find. I’ve also charted the years in which they were released as well as the current year. This is by far the geekiest thing I’ve ever done.
