Alanis Morissette, Not the Doctor
Saturday Night, Lucky Boys Confusion
Super Mario Bros. Instrumental of the Day: The Gameboys perform a mesmerizing medley of Super Mario Bros. theme music.
They weave enough interesting style into these songs that I would buy the album.
Twitter / Mike Doughty, one of my heroes of music and prose.
Really digging their third album, simply called “III” or “The Red Album.” Visit this post at 1FPS and you can stream every track.
Can’t stop listening to this today, especially since I felt like this all afternoon yesterday. The smooth-but-gritty harmony of guitars and punchy, haphazard static towards the end are euphoric:
You
What you looking at?
Head down
Too late for that
What you want
What you get
Know your place
Don’t ever forget
And this is not my face
And this is not my life
And there is not a single thing here
I can recognize
This is all a dream
And none of you are real
I’ll give anything
I’ll give anything
Hey you
What you running from?
All your hate
What you’ve become
Bet you didn’t think
It would happen to you
All used up
Half way through
And this is not my face
And this is not my life
And there is not a single thing here
I can recognize
This is all a dream
And none of you are real
I’ll give anything
I’ll give anything

One of my favorite Tycho songs is a beautiful instrumental piece embedded above. I used it in my senior thesis at UCD, it was a motion graphics awareness piece about the uncharted territory of digital rights and information management.
JK Divorce Entrance Dance
But they just tied the knot! I was looking forward to so much more of JK, like going grocery shopping, buying furniture, and and drafting their wills.

You know that subtly satisfied feeling when you discover some nice new music to accompany your day? B. Fleischmann’s “The Humbucking Coil” just gave me that feeling. Lala’s streamable version is embedded above.
