Really, really digging Styrofoam’s music. Jessi (my wife) says it’s too metrosexual, but I’m not sure she’s even using that word correctly in this case. Regardless, here’s one of Storofoam’s songs, “Microscope,” that I’ve really latched onto lately. I’ve embedded a Flash player below with the entire song from one of my favorite music stores, Amie Street.
Sigur Ros’ “Glósóli” music video is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen
I know the translated lyrics that I pasted below might tell a different story, but I’ve always read the music video as a story about people who find their rhytm in life. The thing they were born, or have always dreamt, of doing.
Then they get the courage to take the leap.
Lyrics translated from Lyrics Mania:
Glowing Sun (Bright Sun)
Now that you’re awake
Everything seems different
I look around
But there’s nothing at all
Put on my shoes, I then find that
She is still in her pyjamas
Then found in a dream
I’m hung by (an) anticlimax
She is with the sun
And it’s out here
But where are you…
Go on a journey
And roam the streets
Can’t see the way out
And so use the stars
She sits for eternity
And then climbs out
She’s the glowing sun
So come out
I awake from a nightmare
My heart is beating
Out of control…
I’ve become so used to this craziness
That it’s now compulsory
And here you are…
I’m feeling…
And here you are,
Glowing sun…
And here you are,
Glowing sun…
And here you are,
Glowing sun…
Take On Me: Literal Video Version
Best part: “This guy’s gonna get an ass full of pipe wrench!”
Clever bookmarklet that can print music album art jackets and movie box art sleeves from Netflix or AOL Music.
The song from Keith Loutit’s tilt shift video I just linked is from Shawn Lee’s album “Soul Visa.” Love this track, and it’s 89¢ on Lala, or just 10¢ as an unlimited streaming web song. Be sure to view this post live on the web if you don’t see the streaming song Flash embed above.
Music video: Broadcast 2000 “get up and go”
A delightful music video created by a film school student for indie band Broadcast 2000. The band liked it so much, they added it to their MySpace page. Now they’re getting press and (at least from me) some album sales from it. iTunes Store has the seven-song debut album in DRM-free iTunes Plus for $5.99.
*Ring ring,* music labels. The 21st century is calling.

Holy-crap-it’s-Phish-performing-“Julius”-my-favorite-Phish-song-live-on-Letterman. I never knew this happened.
Note that I am a bad Phish fan. I’m nuts for their finely crafted studio albums, not as hip on the culture of the live shows. But this was just great to see.
Trey Anastasio kicks ass.
Erased, Over, Out - Nine Inch Nails
I love this remix of The Downward Spiral’s “Eraser,” but I’m also going to miss the ability for clever tracks like this to exist. At first listen, it sounds like Reznor’s “erase me” mantra is just getting strewn out. But when you fast-forward this song on any standard CD player, you will hear the phrase “erase me” in ‘real time,’ as if he were saying it in normal speech.
It was a brilliant play on CD technology, but you can’t do that stuff with digital media players like iTunes or Windows Media. At least, not yet.
I just picked up 311’s new “Uplifter” album. I love their music and how positive they always are. I wish I could travel more like them. Guess that’s part of the motivational message of their music.
I’m embedding Lala’s widget cuz Lala’s cool like that and you can check out the entire album right here. But I must admit that I purchased the Deluxe Edition from iTunes Store (remember: everything’s DRM-free iTunes Plus now) because it’s only $4 more and it comes with 16 little videos, interviews, and other snippets from a recent tour. I love getting to know a band through stuff like this.
